Locked phones:

If you are bringing your phone to the UK and it is a GSM unlocked one, you will be able to use easily with any network.

If you have a phone that you got part of a pay monthly contract and this phone is locked by its UK network, you will have to unlock it in order to use it with a different network or if you want to take it to be used abroad with a different sim card. To unlock your phone you will need to take it to a phone shop to see if your phone can be unlocked or if this shop has the suitable software to unlock it.
